BOSTON, MA – Capitalizing on Shawmut’s deep-rooted history in Boston’s South End, CBT Architects reimagined and revamped the space to reflect today’s culture, new working styles, and the strategic vision of the company’s leadership. The unique and collaborative project partnership between CBT, Red Thread, and Shawmut streamlined the process and created an authentic, employee-focused space.

The new space, which embodies Shawmut’s culture through straightforward materials, features collaborative areas, an open floor plan, huddle and breakout meeting areas, twelve new conference rooms with HD video conference capabilities, and a new café and lobby lounge. The cohesive space celebrates the architecture and character of the building through the use of raw materials, such as the suspended steel beam sculpture and reclaimed wood details—reinforcing and aligning with Shawmut’s corporate philosophy.

In this video, CBT took a closer look at the award-winning design of the space, which was recently honored for Best Office Design and voted the People’s Choice Award winner at this year’s IIDA New England Design Awards.
