NEW YORK, NY – The Metropolitan Museum of Art will launch its inaugural season at The Met Breuer on March 18—just days after Shawmut completes extensive renovations. Originally designed by the renowned Bauhaus architect Marcel Breuer, the iconic Manhattan landmark located on Madison and 75th Street will be home to The Met’s modern and contemporary art collection from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Shawmut is honored and proud to be a part of the next chapter in The Met’s long and storied history of bringing the world’s finest art and artists to the city of New York. On March 1, The Met hosted an exclusive press preview where The New York Times got a sneak peek of what’s to come.
