WASHINGTON, D.C. - World-renowned James Beard Award-winning Chef José Andrés and his ThinkFoodGroup recently opened two new restaurants in Washington, D.C.—and we're the lucky team that helped bring them to life.

Our luck began earlier this year when we built José's Chinese-Peruvian restaurant, China Chilcano. The 158-seat space evokes a Peruvian marketplace with nautical ropes and industrial décor and features a large mural, 300-gallon fish tank, neon fixtures, exotic finishes, bamboo elements, and Lazy Susan style tables.

It was because of our work on the China Chilcano project that the Shawmut team was awarded Beefsteak, a new fast-casual, vegetable-centric concept located in George Washington University's brand new Science and Engineering Building in the Foggy Bottom section of D.C. Serving as a prototype for the brand with a conveyor belt set up, the space was designed with an open ceiling concept and includes paneling lined with graphics, tile throughout, and a unique stadium seating area for 12 guests.
