Publication Recognizes Company’s People Strategies Team for Creating Programs Designed to Support and Stimulate Employees’ Growth

Boston, MA – February 28, 2008 – Shawmut Design and Construction (www.shawmut.com), an $850 million, national general contracting and construction management firm, has been named to the Training Top 125 list, a prestigious ranking of employer-sponsored workforce training and development programs. The publication recognized Shawmut’s People Strategies Team for implementing training programs that link directly to the company’s business goal of sustaining growth while retaining high levels of customer service.

This is the first time Shawmut has been named to the Training Top 125, joining 4 other construction companies and 37 newcomers. Each Top 125 company was measured using quantitative and qualitative data to assess training and development excellence.

Shawmut is committed to growing and developing its people to be the best. The Construction Management Skills Training (CMST) program is designed to provide hands-on training and mentoring to build a strong employee base from the ground up. As a proof point to the success of the CMST program, Shawmut notes a five-year retention rate among its graduates at more than 60 percent.

Training also recognized Shawmut’s Leadership Development Program, an initiative designed to identify the company’s future leaders, coach those employees to instill leadership qualities, and align professional development with corporate growth targets. Shawmut drives customized employee training by creating an Individual Development Plan for every staff member.
