Shawmut Hires James Davella as Director of Foodservice Equipment and Design

Boston, MA–April 3, 2008– James Davella joins Shawmut Design and Construction (www.shawmut.com), a leading national construction management firm, as Director of Foodservice Equipment and Design. In his new position, Mr. Davella will be working for the firm’s hospitality business, consulting restaurant, hospitality, and institutional clients in foodservice planning and design projects. He will primarily advise Shawmut’s clients and project teams regarding foodservice planning, kitchen design, value engineering, equipment commissioning, as well as ongoing maintenance schedules for current and future projects. He will be based out of Shawmut’s New York office and will work with Shawmut’s clients throughout the entire nation. This unparalled customer service provided to Shawmut clients can be found no where else in the industry from a design and construction firm.

 

Mr. Davella brings with him over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry including restaurant and hotel operations, foodservice design, financial analysis, and project management. His background as an executive chef allows Mr. Davella to provide an operator’s approach to facility design and consulting. In addition to his expertise and years of experience working in the restaurant industry, Mr. Davella is also well-versed in the intricacies of marketplace dining halls, having worked with notable firms such as Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers, McKinsey and Company, and Pfizer, as well as higher education clients including Harvard Business School, Harvard University, and Princeton University. This breadth of knowledge allows him to be cross-functional within all of the Shawmut business lines and clientele.

Mr. Davella received his Associate’s Degree in Occupational Science Culinary Arts from Johnson and Wales University, a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Administration from Cornell University, and a Masters in Business Administration from Fordham University.
