Boston, MA - June 23, 2007 – Shawmut Design and Construction (www.shawmut.com), a $700 million national construction management firm, was recently named the #1 Best Place to Work in the Boston Business Journal’s large company category. This is the fourth consecutive year Shawmut has been recognized by the regional awards program. This award recognizes a company’s achievements in creating a positive work environment that attracts and retains employees through a combination of employee satisfaction, working conditions and company culture.
Boston-based Shawmut was one of almost 400 companies to apply for consideration, and was ranked #1 based on the results of employee-satisfaction surveys taken throughout the spring.

Companies were evaluated on the results of employee-satisfaction surveys. Employees answered questionnaires that addressed such factors as: their pride in the company, company encouragement, support and recognition of achievement, and relationships with co-workers and supervisors. The results were analyzed and scored by assigning points to each question.
