Shawmut Builds Stunning New Offices for Convexity Capital Management

Boston—April 4, 2006—Shawmut Design and Construction recently completed the tenant fit-out of Convexity Capital Management’s new 29,700-square foot office located on the 57th floor of the John Hancock Tower. Teaming with architect Bargmann Hendrie + Archetype, Inc., project manager Trammell Crow Company, and key subcontractor Mark Richey Woodworking and Design, Shawmut built a unique space filled with custom millwork and large panes of glass to take advantage of generous sunlight and a sweeping panorama.

“Shawmut worked closely with the entire Convexity team from the early stages of the project to help turn a unique vision into a state-of-the art office,” said James Stukel Jr., Vice President of Shawmut’s Corporate Group.

The team utilized incredibly photo-realistic three-dimensional images to show exactly how the space should look when completed. Shawmut also built full-scale mock-ups of key elements such as acoustical plaster ceilings and office walls to guarantee that the details and workmanship met the expectations for both quality and productive assembly.

Thanks to an extensive pre-construction period, Shawmut was able to secure early procurement for millwork, lights, wood flooring, carpet, and stone in order to deliver the fast track 14-week schedule on time. The new office includes an exercise room with a six-inch acoustical floor to minimize noise and vibration translation to the offices directly below.
