Ermenegildo Zegna's Fifth Avenue Flagship tells the story of an Italian family business New York, NY—January 5, 2009—Shawmut Design and Construction, a leading national construction management firm, has recently received "Project of the Year: Retail" honors in New York Construction's "Best of '08" Awards program for Shawmut's completion of the Ermenegildo Zegna Flagship project. Architect and designer Peter Marino & Associates' vision included an elaborate metal and glass staircase showcasing a nature mural which changes colors through a seasonal palette, 900 square feet of continuous glass in the entryway, stainless steel cables which weave their way through the boutique, and stucco walls which reflect the weave of Ermenegildo Zegna's signature Cashco fabric. The congruent theme was "a nod to nature," utilizing sustainable raw materials throughout, while the décor was designed to resemble the derivation of the Ermenegildo Zegna empire, a loom. "Shawmut is honored to be recognized for our contribution to this dynamic project," said Les Hiscoe, Shawmut's Vice President of Retail. "I'm very proud not only of the beautiful completed space, but of how the project ran so smoothly given the site's logistical constraints and the sensitive, occupied nature of the building." The Ermenegildo Zegna project also recently received an Award of Merit in the interiors category in the 2008 AIA New York State Design Awards. Ermenegildo Zegna was joined by another Shawmut project, Apple's West 14th Street Flagship, which received a Citation in the interiors category. About Shawmut Design and Construction |
