Boston, MA– Shawmut Design and Construction has appointed Michael C. Sanchez to Vice President of Field Operations. In his new role, Michael will be tasked with overseeing the Company's complex, innovative and high-profile construction projects. "Mike's new role as Vice President is testament to his nearly two decades of hard work and commitment," said William Hughes, President. "Mike has played an integral role in helping us shape Shawmut into the company we are today, and has played a unique role working both in the field and on the project management side of our business." Mike joined Shawmut in 1992, and most recently served as Director of Field Operations. Over the last 18 years, Mike has had a variety of roles from Project Superintendent to General Superintendent, as well as Project Manager to Managing Director of the Commercial Group. In these roles, Mike developed a no-nonsense reputation for efficiency, discipline and innovative problem-solving methods. The majority of Mike's projects have involved building complexities such as working within operational environments, with multiple user groups and working within constricted urban settings. Clients include: Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Phillips Exeter Academy, Blackstone Properties, Sovereign Bank, Danvers Bank, Fenway Park, Game On!, FAO Schwarz, and California Pizza Kitchen. Mike holds a B.S. in Building Construction Technology from Wentworth Institute of Technology. His building licenses include the Boston Builder's License (A,B,C), Cambridge Builder's License, and an unrestricted Commonwealth of Massachusetts Construction Supervisor's License, and is licensed in multiple other states. Mike was named by the Boston Business Journal in their annual '40 under 40.' He sits on the Wentworth Board of Alumni and is an Executive Sponsor of Shawmut's CMST (Construction Management Skills Training) program. |
