Dormitory Renovations Mark Shawmut’s First Project with Providence College

Providence, RI – Shawmut Design and Construction, located at 3 Davol Square in Providence, RI, has been awarded its first project on the campus of Providence College. Shawmut will perform extensive renovations in two buildings, Davis Hall and Raymond Hall, with construction scheduled to be completed before the beginning of the 2011-2012 school year.

“Shawmut is a recognized leader of academic construction projects on campuses across New England,” said William Hughes, President and COO of Shawmut. “Our expertise in all aspects of academic construction, including residential life facilities, academic buildings, science and laboratories, and athletic and performance facilities, has allowed us to continually partner with New England’s elite institutions.”

In Davis Hall, a six story dorm building, Shawmut will renovate the existing kitchenettes and bathroom vanities in 83 suites. The project began in May, and is expected to be completed by mid-August.

In Raymond Hall, Shawmut will renovate six bathroom units on three separate floors. The renovations will include, but not be limited to, the installation of new showers, vanities, and wall and floor tile, as well as the replacement of the ceilings. The project began in June and is expected to be completed by late-August.
