New York City—June 26, 2006— Shawmut Design and Construction, a $575 million national construction management firm, announced the completion of 25 retail destinations across the nation this spring. From its headquarters in New York City’s luxury retail district, Shawmut’s dedicated project managers build the hottest stores in some of the most prestigious locations, including New York City, Rodeo Drive, Atlantic City and Palm Beach, Florida. Projects completed this Spring include: Apple Computer’s 5th Avenue flagship in New York as well as several Apple Computer retail locations across the country; Longchamp’s flagship in the chic SoHo neighborhood of New York City; Burberry; Shu Uemura; Puma; and Reebok. “The quality of the package—that is the retail store—is as important to a brand as the merchandise itself,” said Les Hiscoe, vice president of Shawmut’s Retail Group. “Shawmut’s clients rely on us to deliver the highest quality product under challenging circumstances and repeat that success across many locations nationwide. Our ability to deliver this level of predictability allows us to make the entire design and construction process a rewarding and enjoyable experience for everyone.” Shawmut recently worked with top international designers and architects on Longchamp’s U.S. flagship in New York City. The space features a 55-ton “steel landscape” stair to the second level and extensive millwork finishes that include ornate peel down ceilings that virtually flow into walls. The project was completed in a challenging urban environment without disrupting neighboring retail shops. The Company also finished: a stunning new location for luxury retailer Louis Vuitton in Atlantic City, NJ on the new Pier at Ceasars (just one of many Shawmut projects at that location); more than 10 Apple Computer locations, including the astonishing new flagship on 5th Avenue in Manhattan, complete with a magnificent glass cube and spiral glass structural stair; and a Tommy Bahama compound in Hawaii, a popular island lifestyle brand which combines a restaurant and retail emporium under one roof. Shawmut’s Retail Group is a $120 million division with proven success delivering luxury and specialty retail stores. Shawmut Retail has worked on projects for top fashion and luxury clients in all of the exclusive American shopping districts from New York to Palm Beach, Chicago’s Magnificent Mile to Rodeo Drive and Boston’s Newbury Street. Shawmut recently strengthened its portfolio of jewelry clients by completing projects for De Beers on Rodeo Drive, Tiffany & Co., Graff Diamonds, Cartier, and Shreve Crump & Low. |
