Construction Firm Bolsters Accounting & Finance Divisions

Boston, MA– Shawmut Design and Construction recently appointed Roger C. Tougas, CPA, as the Company's Chief Financial Officer responsible for the leadership and management of Shawmut's finance and accounting divisions.

"Roger has more than 20 years experience in the construction business," said William Hughes, President. "He is a leading industry expert who will add further depth to our executive team and will help us position and drive the company through the economic downturn, ensuring Shawmut's continued market leadership."

Tougas' hire is one of two strategic positions that Shawmut has recently announced, including the appointment of an in-house Chief Legal Counsel. According to Hughes, both reflect the Company's forward thinking in the midst of what is considered a down market in construction. "We are bringing in the right people to move this company forward in a timely, proactive way," continued Hughes.

Tougas will put his two decades of experience to use, overseeing Shawmut's financial operations, including accounting policies and procedures, systems and GAAP and leadership and management of the Company's financial operations.

Prior to joining Shawmut, Tougas was a Principal of UHY Advisors in Boston, MA, managing the outsourced accounting group and concentrating on the due diligence, financing and negotiations for large acquisitions.

Tougas also served as Corporate Controller and Interim CFO at Modern Continental Companies in Cambridge, MA. A graduate of Stonehill College in Easton, MA, Roger is a member of the Financial Executives International; the Association of Corporate Growth, Boston Chapter; Massachusetts Society of CPAs; the American Institute of CPAs, the Construction Financial Management Association, Massachusetts Chapter; and Turnaround Management Association, Northeast Chapter.
