Shawmut is committed to supporting local philanthropic organizations on the corporate level as well as on the individual level. We don’t just donate money – we strongly encourage our employees to make a difference by getting involved and interacting with the community. Every Shawmut employee is also given one paid volunteer day to donate one of our most precious resources – our time – to a charity or non-profit organization of their choice. Shawmut’s employee interest group, the Shawmut Community Outreach Providers (SCOP), has built philanthropic relationships with over 25 organizations in six areas of support:
- Community development
- Families and children
- Homelessness and hunger
- Welfare and education
- Neighborhood involvement
- Health and research
SCOP’s mission is to have a significant impact on the communities in which we work. Through partnerships and strategic alliances with non-profit organizations, SCOP looks to actively engage Shawmut’s employees, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to use their strengths and skills to provide services and funds where they are most needed and most beneficial.
