Shawmut has been recognized on the 2025 Inc. 5000 list, identified as one of the fastest-growing private companies in America.
Inc.’s annual list celebrates the top 5,000 businesses across industries that are driving growth and setting the pace for innovation and success. From luxury retail and hospitality to healthcare, construction, and AI, the 2025 honorees represent the organizations shaping the future.
Earlier this year, Shawmut surpassed $2 billion in revenue—a 67% increase over the past four years—including $1 billion generated in the New England market alone.
This momentum stems from an aggressive growth plan implemented by CEO Les Hiscoe, focused on capturing market share in large-scale projects with substantial scope and complexity; bolstering expertise in the commercial, education, healthcare, and life sciences sectors; adding large-scale project builders to the team; and driving both organic and strategic expansion.
To support this, Shawmut has expanded to 15 offices nationwide, with recent openings in Worcester, MA; Bentonville, AR; and Newtown, PA, and strengthened its leadership with key hires in New York and South Florida.
In November 2024, the firm further accelerated growth with the acquisition of First Finish, a premier hotel renovation contractor. This partnership creates a unique market offering within the hospitality sector, by providing an all-in-one team capable of executing structural, infrastructure, public space, and room work cost-effectively.
Among Shawmut’s recent landmark projects are UMass Chan Medical School’s $350 million new education and research building; Boston University’s $550 million renovation of Warren Towers; phases one and two of the Barclays Center’s $100 million, five-year renovation; Walmart’s new home office in Bentonville, AR; Harvard University’s redevelopment of 175 North Harvard Street, which includes new affiliate housing at 100 South Campus Drive and the future new home of the American Repertory Theater; the demolition of McCoy Stadium to make way for the new $326M Pawtucket High School; Miami’s 24-story residential tower, Excel Miami and mixed-use development 2000 Wynwood; and St. John’s University’s $106 million new ground-up St. Vincent Health Sciences Center.
“I’m more excited than ever about Shawmut’s future. We’re taking on the largest, most complex projects in company history, growing our team of expert large-scale builders—and just as importantly—continuing to lead with the empathy, creativity, and dedication that define us,” said Les Hiscoe, CEO of Shawmut.
