BOSTON, MA – Shawmut partnered with Make-A-Wish® Massachusetts and Rhode Island to build a 5-year-old boy his dream tree house. Ever since a trip to Disney World with his family, Maxwell has wanted a tree house that looked like the Swiss Family Robinson-themed treetop home.

Design and construction of the tree house began inside Shawmut’s workshop and was transferred to Maxwell’s backyard, where it was built in a single, exhilarating day. The completed tree house includes a wrap-around deck, porthole window, and a lookout tower.

“Partnering with Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island to make children’s dreams come true is a natural fit for us. Giving back to the community is core to Shawmut, and being able to use our skill sets and resources in the process makes it even more rewarding,” said, Michael Sanchez, chief construction officer.

We’re happy to pass along news that after 14 rounds of chemotherapy and a month of radiation, Maxwell is cancer free. The Shawmut team couldn’t have brought his dream to life without the support of partners including Marr Scaffolding, CP Building Supply, and NSC Restrooms.
