LOS ANGELES, CA – Shawmut recently completed work on the brand new Clippers Lexus Courtside Club located in Los Angeles’ iconic Staples Center. Working closely in tandem with Meis Architects, the team wrapped up the project just in time for the Clippers’ first home game of the season in late October.

The 2,200 square-foot space, located at event level, was built exclusively to serve Clippers’ courtside seat-holders and VIPs. Shawmut’s focus for the 200-person space was to ensure that the club could easily be set up before games and dismantled quickly after. To guarantee this flexibility, Shawmut strategically built a temporary entry vestibule that could be disassembled in just an hour, a branded movable tunnel to access the club, and mesh partitions on tracks to section off the space. The interior also features a custom carpet that rolls up and furniture that can moved with ease. The team also leveraged the existing lighting system to create a separate one for the space, complete with neon and LED signage. The club space will serve as a home for not only VIP Clippers fans, but as the staging area for major concerts and award ceremonies at the venue.

“Creating an exclusive, unique experience for Clippers fans on such a quick turnaround was an exciting challenge for our team,” said Eric Geisler, director of sports venues at Shawmut. “We are honored to be a part of the team’s growing presence in the Staples Center as they kick off their 2015 season.”

Creating a luxurious, one-of-a kind space that could easily be assembled and taken down for games presented a unique challenge for the Shawmut team. Halfway through the construction process, they also had to rebrand the entire club to reflect the last minute Lexus sponsorship. Despite these hurdles, Shawmut was able to construct the custom courtside club on a tight four week timeline, in order to wrap up in time for the first home game of the season. This project is the latest for the firm’s sports venues division, with recent work at Santa Anita Park and Petco Park.
