BOSTON, MA—Shawmut completed the infrastructure for the new state-of-the-art scoreboards and LED ribbon displays at Boston College’s Alumni Stadium. The project debuted at the Eagle’s home opener featuring some of the most advanced scoreboard technology in the country.

“The installation of these video boards puts Alumni Stadium at the technological forefront in the region,” said Shawmut CEO, Thomas Goemaat. “Shawmut worked with Daktronics to complete the infrastructure for the scoreboards, including new steel framing, electrical, and metal panel work around the video boards to conceal the framing that had been erected.”

The technology upgrade includes two new video boards, as well as 1,065 LED ribbon displays that wrap around the entire football stadium. Each end zone video board features 258,000 pixels, 855,000 LEDs and is twice the size of the previously installed boards, standing at approximately 19 feet high by 54 feet wide.

The project makes Boston College the only school in the Atlantic Coast Conference to have this advanced outdoor video resolution technology and one of only two schools in the eastern half of the United States. Additionally, only 15 other stadiums in the entire country have the same 13HD technology as Alumni Stadium. Professional teams using 13HD technology include the Denver Broncos, San Francisco 49ers, Carolina Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers. Other collegiate stadiums utilizing the technology include the University of Washington, Stanford, the University of Wisconsin, and Texas A&M.
