Rhode Island office expanding with addition of skilled new hire


PROVIDENCE, RI – Shawmut Design and Construction is pleased to announce that Kate Simons has joined the firm in the Rhode Island office as a Project Manager in the Healthcare/Life Sciences Division. In her new role, Kate will manage construction projects for the state’s top hospitals, healthcare providers and life sciences companies.

Prior to joining Shawmut, Kate managed the construction of both large and small Healthcare and Compliance Related Projects. Kate’s client experience includes Dana Farber and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical. Her experience also includes Construction Program Management for a Fortune-20 company where she worked on compliance-related construction projects and provided custom-built project schedule reporting and risk analysis/mitigation to all levels of the organization. A LEED and OSHA certified construction supervisor, she is a summa cum laude graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Construction Management and an A.S. in Architectural Engineering.

Shawmut’s Healthcare/Life Sciences is a rapidly growing division in the company. This includes a key new senior manager, David Surette who was named Director of the Healthcare and Life Sciences division for Rhode Island and Massachusetts in December 2013.
