Members of Shawmut, including chief people officer Marianne Monte, joined GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) on Thursday, June 14 for the 2018 Rhode Island Event, Justice for All.

The annual event, held at the Providence Art Club, aligned with Pride month, which occurs each June as a national celebration of equality and the LGBTQ community. As a longtime supporter, Marianne Monte led this year’s fundraising efforts as an event Co-Chair—along with Shawmut as a leading sponsor—to help raise more than double the set fundraising goal. The contributions support the organization’s mission of providing strategic litigation, public policy advocacy, and education to end discrimination based on gender identity, expression, and sexual orientation.

Since it was founded in 1978, GLAD has exerted an outsized commitment to establishing equality in communities, paving the way for advances across the country through bold and effective advocacy that has achieved scores of precedent-setting legal victories to end discrimination.
