Vice President of Safety Shaun Carvalho was named to Building Design + Construction’s 40 Under 40 class of 2019, recognized as a top young leader in the commercial construction and design industry, excelling not only in his field but also in his service to clients, the industry, and the community. Becoming the first-ever vice president of safety at Shawmut, Carvalho paved the way for his rise to leadership by always looking to the future of safety innovations, with a focus on prevention rather than after-the-fact reaction. He’s been the driving force behind multiple safety-oriented initiatives including Safety Week, launching a new safety reporting and tracking system, and piloting and implementing safety programs and technologies—all to enhance Shawmut’s commitment to world-class safety. Carvalho has also won the Associated General Contractors of Massachusetts (AGC MA) Industry Advancement Award.
