BOSTON, MA – Shawmut Vice President, Kevin Sullivan, was honored with an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriot Award in recognition of his extraordinary support of employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve.

The Patriot Award, created by the Department of Defense, recognizes organizations which support members of the Guard and Reserve through offering flexible scheduling, time off before and after deployment, family care, and leaves of absence as necessary.

“I am honored to receive this award from the ESGR,” said Kevin Sullivan, vice president at Shawmut. “I am proud to work for a company that supports our national defense by providing our employees with the opportunity and time to serve in the Guard and Reserve through Shawmut’s work life balance initiatives like Shawmut Flex and Military Leave.”

According to Earl Bonett, ESGR Massachusetts Chair, “The Patriot Award was created to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve. Sullivan was nominated for being highly supportive of the National Guard and Reserve Service by Will Ashton, a Shawmut employee and company commander for the 338th Engineer Company in Attleboro. Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s National Guard and Reserve units.”
