PROVIDENCE, RI – What seemed like a pack of “bulls” making their way through the streets of Downtown Providence was actually a roller derby team urging on runners in the name of charity.

Amos house—a nonprofit agency which provides food, housing, education, and job training to individuals and families struggling with homelessness and poverty—held its signature “Get Gored For Good: The Providence Running of the Bulls” on April 26.

Shawmut’s 25 member team ran alongside some 8,000 participants, a total of 2 miles through downtown all whilst being chased by Providence Roller Derby team dressed as bulls. The fundraiser and festival—which aimed to raise $130,000 at this year’s event turned to its runners, participants, and community to help meet the goal. In true Shawmut fashion, the team fundraised and donated, as they do every year!

After runners finished the course—complete with the “packs of bulls” waiting at the finish line, dashing red paint upon the brave runners—participants enjoyed an after party where Shawmut sponsored a refreshments tent within Burnside Park.
