The Boston Business Journal award recognizes a company's achievements in creating a positive work environment that attracts and retains employees through a combination of employee satisfaction, working conditions and company culture. Shawmut has been named to the Best Places to Work list for six consecutive years, including a #1 finish in 2007.

Boston Globe 2008 Globe 100 Top Places to Work Shawmut was ranked fifth overall in the debut edition of The Boston Globe's employee survey based project. Approximately 600 organizations of over 100 employees participated in the 2008 survey. Shawmut placed #2 overall among medium sized businesses, as well as #4 in Diversity and #8 in Career Development in the survey.

The Providence Business News and the Rhode Island State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) have chosen Shawmut Design and Construction as one of Rhode Island's Best Places to Work for four years in a row, including a #1 ranking in 2008. The award is based on an analysis of policies and practices as well as an extensive employee survey.

Crain's New York Best Places to Work for in New York In 2008 Shawmut was named to Crain's New York Business' inaugural list of Best Places to Work for in New York, placing 7th in the Large Company category, and 16th overall. The list is created based on an analysis of policies and practices as well as an extensive employee survey.

Building Design + Construction Top Five Places to Work 2006 In their first ever competition, the editors of Building Design + Construction named Shawmut one of five firms as the "Best AEC Firms To Work For" in the U.S. architecture/engineering/construction industry. The companies were selected for exhibiting positive work environments and care for their employees.

Giants 300 Report
Each spring, BD+C editors survey the country's largest AEC firms in the nonresidential building industry. Companies are ranked based on the volume of commercial, institutional, industrial, and multifamily residential building work completed in 2007. In 2008, Shawmut was ranked #39 among Contractors. Shawmut also placed on BD+C's Top Building Team LEED® APs, Top University Contractors, Top Office Contractors, Top Healthcare Contractors, Top Hotel Contractors, Top Commercial Contractors, Top Institutional Contractors, and Top Reconstruction Contractors lists.
Engineering News-Record
Top 100 At-Risk Contractors and Top 400 Contractors
ENR annually ranks the top 100 At-Risk Construction Management Firms and the top 400 largest General Contractors by revenue, as well as by a wide variety of market sectors. This ENR survey is used as an important reference tool throughout the industry. In 2008, Shawmut was ranked as the #23th CM At-Risk Firm and #67th in the top 400 GCs in the United States.
