Paramount Building Lobby Repositioning

New York, NY

Type of Project: Renovation
Duration of Project: 80 weeks
Square footage: 50,000 sf
Partners: Fifield Piaker Elman Architects, Levin Management

Noteworthy: Shawmut constructed a new, 50,000-square-foot lobby in this iconic building, relocating it from Broadway to West 43rd street to free up prime real estate for retail tenants. The new lobby consists of a double-height foyer leading to a third-floor sky lobby . The scope included a new landmark-approved custom bronze storefront. The building is composed of three different structural systems – concrete-encased composite steel, waffle slabs, and metal deck and concrete slabs – so Shawmut worked with all three systems simultaneously, modifying and designing seats to allow the different systems to be connected.
