Daniel Casey, a project executive for the Shawmut West region, was named to the 2020 class of design:retail’s 40 Under 40, recognized as one of the next generation of leaders making their mark on retail design. After joining Shawmut, Casey quickly established himself as a leader, partnering with some of the best in design including Foster and Partners, Peter Marino Architect, CallisonRTKL, Ennead Architects, Winick Architects, and Gruen Associates. Bringing his unique, analytical perspective as an engineer, Casey has successfully led some of Shawmut’s most logistically-challenging projects. As project executive, he oversees the office and field teams across multiple projects and states. His devotion to delivering the highest-quality finished product has led clients to turn to him for guidance and leadership; including on his 12 Apple projects (including Scottsdale Fashion Square). Casey has been key owner liaison for high-profile, national clients including Apple, Yves Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton, Uniqlo, and Primark.

Casey has nearly 15 years of experience in the AEC industry, starting his career as a union laborer and pursuing a degree in civil engineering. He became a professional engineer and worked for 10 years in structural civil design before switching over to construction. Casey's experience allows him to bring a design-oriented perspective to retail, seeing a project through design, construction, and engineer lenses.

Casey has also been named to the ICSC CenterBuild Leaders Under 40 class of 2019, recognized as a disruptor in retail who continues to transform the industry. He is a registered professional engineer, a USGBC LEED® Accredited Professional, and 10-Hour OSHA certified.
