Shawmut’s Rhode Island office was honored as a 2018 Best Place to Work in the state by Providence Business News at an awards gala held at the Garden Pavilion at Crowne Plaza on June 14.

The statewide survey and awards program is designed to identify, recognize, and honor the best places of employment in Rhode Island—benefiting the state's economy, workforce, and businesses. As a proud and engaged member of the community, Shawmut regularly partners with the most prestigious institutions in the region—including Brown University, Providence College, and Rhode Island School of Design. Shawmut is currently completing projects for Wexford Science & Technology’s Innovation Complex and River House apartments which are reinvigorating Providence’s former I-195 land and South Street Landing.

This year’s honor marks the ninth time Shawmut has been honored in Rhode Island and the 53rd time across regional offices.

What employee recognition program does your staff like the most? Each year, we celebrate every one of our employees during our Owner’s Meeting, which is held in one of our offices and livestreamed to every office and job site across the country.

What corporate community-service initiatives do you undertake? Here in Rhode Island, we work with longtime philanthropic partner Amos House—volunteering each month at their kitchen and sponsoring their annual “Get Gored For Good” fundraiser each April. Additionally, our Providence team volunteers with ACE Mentor Program—an organization that helps high school students discover how to translate their interests and abilities into exciting, rewarding careers in architecture, engineering, and construction.
