In its tenth year, Shawmut’s Safety Week had record participation with more than 25,600 employees and partners participating in 558 events and trainings across 111 locations. All nine offices hosted events, from virtual reality fall protection training to field technology demonstrations to presentations from experts including Cal/OSHA and NYPD. Executives including CEO Les Hiscoe, COO Reza Amirkhalili, Chief of Construction Operations Michael Sanchez, and Vice President of Safety Shaun Carvalho toured job sites and conducted Safety Blitzes to experience the safety technologies implemented on projects.

Reduces risk by harnessing the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology that automatically detects safety performance in jobsite photos, measures trends, provides workflow analysis, and allows the teams to drive desired on-site behaviors. The system can spot PPE compliance, environmental hazards, fall protection, electrical issues, access issues, and other potential hazards.
ASSP VR Fall Protection Experience
Virtual reality training that replicates real-life construction sites, providing valuable safety training that helps workers learn to mitigate potential hazards. Users are asked to identify fall hazards while virtually navigating a two-story roof.
Safety monitoring app that facilitates site inspections and tracks incidents, identifies gaps in safety and training programs, and utilizes project-specific subcontractor incident data to monitor trends, and create corrective action plans. It allows project teams and safety managers to make informed decisions that help improve performance based on incident data in real time.
Technologies designed to help ease physical burden and reduce fatigue over the course of a worker’s shift. The EksoZeroG is a robotic arm that holds heavy tools on aerial work platforms and scaffolding, and the EksoVest is an upper body exoskeleton that elevates and supports workers’ arms, assisting with tasks ranging from chest height to overheard.
